Nigeria’s National Hub for Early Warning, Crisis Prevention & Human Security
We aggregate real-time data from communities, institutions, and partners to identify emerging security, climate, health, and socio-economic risks.
OSPRE enables anticipatory action by translating early warning signals into coordinated, timely responses across government and partners.
We strengthen local capacities to withstand shocks through community-based early warning, peacebuilding, and resilience programs.
Our evidence-based assessments inform policy, planning, and resource allocation to protect lives and livelihoods.
The Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) was established in 2022 as Nigeria’s designated national coordination mechanism for early warning, crisis prevention, and resilience building. Operating under the authority of the Office of the Vice President, OSPRE works across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
OSPRE integrates multi-sectoral data, community-level intelligence, and institutional reporting to anticipate risks before they escalate into large-scale crises. Its work spans conflict prevention, climate-related risks, displacement dynamics, food insecurity, and social cohesion challenges.
Through alignment with ECOWAS early warning systems and regional resilience frameworks, OSPRE positions Nigeria as a strategic anchor for peace, stability, and human security in West Africa and the Sahel.
